what is a JRSO?JRSO stands for Junior Road Safety Officer. Primary 6 pupils are appointed or selected for their primary school, usually for a one year period. Some schools may choose to also have JRSOs from Primary 5 & Primary 7 pupils. JRSO posts in some schools may also last for longer than one year. Some schools also involve other pupils by having Deputies or Assistants to form a JRSO team to help the lead JRSOs. JRSOs are supported in their schools by an Adult Helper. Different schools may very well have their own ways of working. There's no one correct way to run JRSO – it all depends on what best suits the school. The JRSOs and all their helpers are a huge help to the Road Safety Officer for the local area, as they help promote road safety issues within the school and local community.
